Proof that mud is good for you – Syrinx Za Ultra Sensitive Therapy Cream review

by Annabella on August 20, 2012 · 9 comments

Every summer without fail, I get a rash on my elbows otherwise known as prickly heat. I never thought about using anything other than a steroid cream which we always have around the house, James gets eczema on his hands when it’s hot or when he stressed. Last year was really bad for both of us, between the normal summer heat and getting married, we were scratching left, right and centre.

When I got an email asking if I wanted to Syrinx Za I had to laugh only because the PR said this wouldn’t be the most glamorous product to try! However this a buttery feeling, non-scented emulsion that glides on really easy and absorbs quickly. As it’s been a somewhat cold summer I’ve not had too many elbow issues but the last month I could feel my skin starting to get agitated so I decided to experiment with the cream. Instead of waiting for my elbows to go into full meltdown I started using it just on my left one and while the right one was exposed to the elements. Here’s what happened…

This is the skin on my right elbow in all it’s prickly heat glory – sorry if this is picture is icky but you need to understand the full affect here! I’ve not used any cream on right side and with the warm weather the last few weeks it’s been a nightmare.

This picture on the other hand is my left elbow area which has stayed about 90% bump free from applying the cream every morning for about 4 weeks. You can definitely see a difference, you could also say prevention is better than cure. I’m now using the cream on my annoyed elbow and it does soothe the itchiness but I find that I’ve had to keep using it even when the bumps start to subside. James has found this to be a lifesaver, it’s easy to hide red itchy elbows, not so easy to hide red itchy hands. This has made the Skin Scrubs household v. happy!

So what is the magic ingredient? The Syrinx Za website sez:

Zander: a highly organic fresh water sediment found in the lakes of North Eastern Europe. As well as aiding chelation, Zander calms and deep cleanses the skin, while reducing sores and itching so the skin can heal without interference.

I don’t know why the words ‘fresh water sediment’ make me smile, they just do. This also contains other nifty ingredients such as Shea butter, Melonseed Oil, Olive Oil, Beeswax, and wait for it…..Tumeric which has anti-inflammatory properties.

Available from the Syrinx Za website priced at £18.50 for 50ml.

Wow that’s such a huge difference!

I tend to get breakouts on my arms in the summer when I have them waxed…I wonder if I can use this for the same thing? I also get dry patches of skin on my right arm when I’m stressed, might be worth me giving this a go myself :D xx

I think it’s quite common to get dry skin when if you are stressed. I guess that is your body’s way of telling you to chillax. This is a really easy cream to use and because it’s non-scented it won’t interfere with any perfumes.

You should give it a go! xoxo

Hi Annabella,

This is a fantastic post, thank you very much – we are very pleased with the results of all of our testers/bloggers – your post is up on our Facebook page – http://www.facebook.com/SyrinxZa and we are putting it on our other networks.

Sarah – if you don’t mind me butting in there, yes it should help that problem too.

Thanks again
Ashley

Hi Ashley – glad you like the review! We will be getting another pot and start using it before the redness appears. Can’t believe the difference it makes which is why I had to take photos!

I’ll make sure Sarah knows that it can be used for her waxing bumps too!

Annabella xoxo

I often get a red rash that comes out on my chest. Happens most when I’m stressed, which is most of the time!.

Never used any creams or anything on it before, it tends to go away by itself after a day or so, but I might give this a go!

James gets eczema on his hands when he’s stressed so I understand! The best thing about this cream is that is doesn’t smell of anything and sinks right in so it doesn’t feel like you are slathering yourself in medication goo!

My face has gone dry and flaky during this winter, just wondering would this help on my dry/sensitive skin?
