I’ve have been wanting to try Fresh skincare products for ages, and last year I finally got my backside to Sephora in Atlanta and got a few bits and I’ve already reviewed some of them. Their signature award winning Sugar Face Polish has always intrigued me but the price of $55 has always put me off but this time I took the plunge. I’ve used this sparingly over the last 6 months and I’m about halfway through it so here we go….
Packaging/size - The packaging looks clean and expensive which would probably explain why the jar is glass, not plastic. However the screw-top lid is plastic and it comes with an additional lid that nestles on top of the glass which is important (to me anyway). I’ve made sure to keep this on a bathroom shelf rather than around the bath because if I drop this not only will it shatter but will make quite a dent on whatever it lands on! I think for premium skincare, 125g is a generous size as most start around 5og and usually don’t go above 100g.
Scent/texture – As one would expect this has gorgeous scent like sugary strawberry lemonade – this alone makes it a pleasure to use. The polish is a velvety smooth, creamy texture and the sugar grains are even sized so no random chunky bits. This also contains five oils; meadowfoam, strawberry, plum, grapeseed, and macadamia. While you’d think this combination would make a greasy mess, the oils help you get some good manual friction while still protecting the skin from being scratched.
Does it work?
Well in a word YES. I’ll be honest and say that I wanted to hate this because of the price but I can’t. The Fresh website doesn’t specify what skin type this is for, but the combination of sugar and oils makes my skin smooth, soft, and plump as a baby’s bum. Now keep in mind I often scrub/exfoliate my face but even I noticed a difference!
The Fresh also website says you can use this 3 – 4 times and leave it on 5 -10 minutes as mask. I have only been using this about 3 times a month due to the price and I think it does such a good job that using it anymore than once a week would be overkill. I apply it after I’ve washed my face on moist skin – not wet otherwise it won’t work as well. Leaving it on a bit longer as a mask helps to reap the benefits of the oils which nourish and hydrate the complexion.
This is pure luxury and one of the best face scrubs I’ve ever used – curse you Fresh! *shakes fist
