North East NCW Launch, Beamish Museum

Cold, windy, rainy – but what do you expect in October? A marquee complete with swinging chandelier set the scene for the NCW launch in the North East of England.

Over 150 partners, school children and celebrities came to Beamish Open Air Museum to find out about the excellent work completed by schools, colleges, universities, education providers and employers, links education and the built
environment in the North East.

Highlights of the event included the grand finale of the Hartlepool Bridges competition with the nail biting announcement of the overall winners.

An exhibition of the entries for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), ‘Paint the Town’ arts competition, formed the central exhibit in the marquee, whilst stands around the edge exhibited other projects and activities running throughout the year.

The day also offered opportunities to try your hand at using geomatics equipment or painting and decorating, to name but a few activities, along with the chance to see the historical construction of Beamish Museum itself.

The popularity of the inside of the bar and sweetshop proved their architectural aesthetics.

Much thanks to all involved.
