Patacake Day Nursery Visit

As part of National Construction week children from Patacake Day Nursery, Ross Street, Cambridge visited the site of their new nursery school. They were joined by Anne Campbell, MP for Cambridge and met the team who are constructing the nursery, community centre and student flats. The architects, Vincent and Gorbing, the construction team from Hill Partnerships and the project managers GHM Project Management were on hand to explain the project.

This project proves women have a place in construction. The client teams are both led by women (Nicky Cooper, from Aldwyck Housing Association and Sara Garnham for CAMCAT Housing Association), the ultimate users of building will be Patacake Day Nursery, owned by Petra Moden and Sophie Brook, and APU, whose project team for this development is led by Sandy Lynam, Deputy Director of Estates. Hill Partnerships were represented by their Finance Director, Julie Williams.

Petra Moden from Patacake said, "The children are very excited to be involved in the actual building project - and
maybe we will inspire them to go on and design and build key new buildings for the future.
They are completing a project back in the old nursery school in which they are learning all about constructing buildings."

Andy Hill, managing director of Hill Partnerships, said, "We are delighted to be supporting National Construction Week.
We know the future of industry depends on bringing in more highly skilled young people - and more women.
There are excellent opportunities for interesting and rewarding careers in construction." back
