Lee Valley Whitewater Centreprovides excellent whitewater challenges for slalom racers, whitewater kayakers and freestyle paddlers in the London and South East area. The additional Legacy course also provides great paddling for beginners and those that are improving their whitewater kayking skills. Lee Valley was the first London Olympic venue that opened for public use. During the games millions watched in awe as the world's best slalom canoeists took on the demanding rapids. The jewell in the crown came when Team GB C2 crews Etienne Stott & Tim Bailee and David Florence & Richard Hounslow took Olympic gold and silver respectively.

The safety of its users is important to Lee Valley White Water Centre. There's no minimum age requirement, but as the courses range between Grade 3 and Grade 4, all kayakers or canoeists need to have previous white water experience and complete a short competency assessment to demonstrate an acceptable level and standard. Once you have successfully completed this assessment you will become a member of the centre and can book future sessions online. This will include an assessment on our flat water pool and Legacy Loop, followed by the Olympic Standard Competition Course for more experienced paddlers.
